Really

I think that every mother of twins has their own way of coping with the public. Although I often avoid potential talkers when in the public arena it is not always possible. I was inspired by another blogger to write the top five stupid things that people say or ask about my kids.

1. Are they twins? Really?!They look exactly the same and are wearing a shirt that says twins rock. what do you think.
2.EVERYONE says this: I always wanted twins. REALLY?!
3. or they say: Twins run in my family and I was supposed to be the one who had them. REALLY?!
4.Does twins run in your family? They had to come from somewhere, I mean Really?!
5. Did you know your were having twins? This is not 1958 and I do not live in a 3rd world country. Really?

I have to say that I am not a chatter at the grocery for sure but please if you can't resist asking a question to a mother of twins please at least be creative.

SHUT UP

Joe and I were not even trying to get pregnant. Both of us were finishing a masters degree and I was getting ready to embark on a new career as a public school teacher. Joe had just taken a promotion at the church where we were on staff. I guess we did not think in not trying to get pregnant you have to we needed to understand stand some basic fact about the birds and bees.

When I first took the at home pregnancy test I was so excited. I was nervous but excited. Joe had the same reaction. We made an appointment at the doctor and as he look at the ultra sound screen he said, "Here is the first heart beat." Of course the other heart beat had to be mine but why would we need to hear my heart beat??

"SHUT UP!!" was the shout heard around the office that day when the doctor told me that in fact it was not my heart beat but that there was two babies.

This blog is an attempt to reflect the life I am currently leading trying to raise twin boys, keep a house, be a pastor's wife, and attempt to have a career.
